1839: This is the official account of the First Vision, first published by Joseph Smith in the March 15th 1842 edition of the Times and Seasons. It appears in the Pearl of Great Price as Joseph Smith History. The account used here is from the 1839 manuscript history which is in the handwriting of James Mulholland.
Apparently the First Vision was manufactured after the Lectures of Faith was published
Why do we have no witness to Moses speaking to God at the burning bush? I was a visitation to that prophet alone. There were 3 mortal witnesses (and other Heavenly ones) to Christ's transfiguration, but that does not mean that every vision needs a witness.
