Mormons follow a different Christ than traditional Christians

 The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ of whom I speak as been revealed in this the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times. He together with His Father, appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in the year 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, he knew more of the matters of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages." LDS Apostle Bruce McConkie taught that Christians have "a mythical Christ" (Mormon Doctrine, p.269). That means we must decide which faith has the real Christ because somebody clearly has a mythical Christ. Do these faiths have the same Jesus? No, if you read the LDS Ensign. It says Christian Churches worship a different Jesus (May 1977, p.26).

“It is true that many of the Christian churches worship a different Jesus Christ than is worshipped by the Mormons or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints”
(Bernard P. Brockbank, LDS Seventy, “The Living Christ”, Ensign (Conference Edition), May 1977, p.26

President Gordon B. Hinckley: “No, I don’t. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ of whom I speak has been revealed in this the Dispensation of the Fulness of Times. He together with His Father, appeared to the boy JS in the year 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, he knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages” (“Crown of Gospel is Upon Our Heads, Church News, June 20, 1998, p. 7)

LDS leaders have agreed that Mormonism teaches another Jesus

Jesus is not the same Jesus as what has been taught for two millennia is something agreed upon by several church leaders. For instance, Seventy Bernard P. Brockbank told a general conference  audience:
It is true that many of the Christian churches worship a different Jesus Christ than is worshipped by the Mormons or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” (“The Living Christ,” Ensign (Conference Edition), May 1977, p. 26).
Fifteenth President Gordon B. Hinckley agreed with Brockbank:
In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints “do not believe in the traditional Christ.” “No, I don’t. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ of whom I speak has been revealed in this the Dispensation of the Fulness of Times. He together with His Father, appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in the year 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, he knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages” (“Crown of Gospel is Upon Our Heads, Church News, June 20, 1998, p. 7).

George Q. Cannon
Discourse
Delivered by President George Q. Cannon,
at the Tabernacle, Salt Lake City,
Sunday, March 11th, 1894.
[Reported by Arthur Winter.]

America. Many other reformers have tried from time to time to correct these existing evils; but up to the present they have failed. The Icarian society, I believe, took possession of Nauvoo after we were driven out from there. They succeeded for a little while in maintaining the organization, but it eventually fell to pieces. So it has been with all these man-made schemes. How shall these things be corrected? If they are not corrected by God raising up a people they never will be corrected. The Lord is not going to come down in person; He is not going to send His angels from heaven to do the work that we can do. He does not do things in that way; but He inspires His children on the earth. This earth is not always going to be the pandemonium it is today, in some respects. It is not always going to be the hell it is today for millions of human beings who are suffering and toiling and going down to [p.24] the grave in misery, as they are in almost every land. He is not going to allow this to continue; for this fair earth was created for man's abode and happiness. Satan, however, has obtained power over man, and it seems as though he had got possession of this earth, and that it would always remain as it is now. But not so. Men have said, "Why don't the Lord kill the devil?" Well, the devil answers his purpose, in his place. We are here to be tested and tried. There is a war between Satan and God. We are brethren and sisters of Satan as well as of Jesus. It may be startling doctrine to many to say this; but Satan is our brother. Jesus is our brother. We are the children of God. God begot us in the spirit in the eternal worlds. This fight that I speak of arose, as we are told, over the question as to how man should work out his earthly probation in a tabernacle of flesh and bones and obtain redemption. Satan differed from God, and he rebelled. We are told in the scriptures that he drew after him one third of the family of God. They thought his plan better than that of the Savior Jesus Christ. From that time until the present he has been struggling to destroy the plans of Jehovah, and to seduce the children of men—his brothers and sisters—from their allegiance to God. Invisible to mortal eyes, he has exerted tremendous power; and because he has been invisible, men have almost denied his existence. Yet the evidence of his existence and of his power is to be seen on every hand. He is determined, if he can, to destroy the plans of God while we are here in a state of probation. We were faithful to God in our first estate in the presence of God; for we were part of the two-thirds who were loyal to our Father. Then the Father said, "You shall have tabernacles, and I will test you again, because I mean to give all who are faithful exaltation;" and He sent us here to be tempted and tried, to see whether in the exercise of our agency we would be faithful to Him in this condition of darkness —in what may be termed our second estate. If we are faithful and true to God, we shall receive glory, as our Lord and Savior, who is our eider brother, has received and will receive, and we shall be with Him. This fight is going on. Satan is waging it. He has killed every prophet and righteous man he could. He has resorted to lies, and filled the earth with them, by means of which the righteous have been slain from time to time. We who are here today have known something of the result of his lies. We have felt them in our lives. He has circulated slanders about us and filled the earth with misrepresentations of everything that was pure and holy, in order to destroy us. He was the means of slaying the Son of God—the most holy and pure Being that ever came in the flesh; and he has slain prophets since then. Prophets and righteous men in our day have been slain in like manner; and some of us who now live might have been slain if the Lord had not preserved us. Satan has been doing everything of this character purposely to destroy the work of God.

Notice the Book of Mormon agrees with the Traditional Christian view of Jesus and completely contradicts the Mormon Christ

Mosiah 3:5 For behold, the time cometh, and is not far distant, that with power, the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth, who was, and is from all eternity to all eternity, shall come down from heaven among the children of men, and shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay, and shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles, such as healing the sick, raising the dead, causing the lame to walk, the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and curing all manner of diseases.

Notice that Jesus is the Lord Omnipotent and God from Eternity which would mean that he had no Father until he became flesh
Mosiah 15 3 The Father, because he was conceived by the power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son—

Which agrees with the Bible that teaches Jesus was Fatherless as Jehovah

Hebrews 7
  For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

I agree with Gordon B Hinkley that the Christ of Mormonism is a different Christ than Traditional Christianity which agrees with the Creeds including the Book of Mormon

 the apostle Paul warns of "another Jesus whom we have not preached... a different spirit which you have not received... a different gospel which you have not accepted" (2 Cor. 11:4).

FALSE "REORGANITE" DOCTRINE ABOUT BIRTH OF CHRIST. "Reorganites" claim that Brigham Young went astray and apostatized because he declared that Jesus Christ was not begotten of the Holy Ghost. "Reorganites claim that he was begotten of the Holy Ghost, and they make the statement that the scriptures so teach. But they do err not understanding the scriptures. They tell us the Book of Mormon states that Jesus was begotten of the Holy Ghost. I challenge the statement. The Book of Mormon teaches no such thing! Neither does the Bible. It is true there is one passage that states so, but we must consider it in the light of other passages with which it is in conflict

Doctrine of Salvation Vol 1 page 19

 According to Mormon doctrine, Jesus was procreated as a spirit child of the Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother and later conceived physically by the Heavenly Father and an earthly mother: The Ensign, Jan. 1989, pp.28-29; Come Unto Christ by Ezra Taft Benson, p.4).

Bruce McConkie states: "Christ the Word, the Firstborn, had of course attained unto the status of Godhood while yet in pre-existence" (What Mormons Think of Christ, p.36).

Bruce McConkie continues: "He is the Firstborn of the Father. By obedience and devotion to the truth he attained that pinnacle of intelligence which ranked him as a God, as the Lord Omnipotent, while yet in his pre-existent state" (Mormon Doctrine, 1966, pg. 129).

Orson Pratt: "God the Father had a plurality of wives, one or more being in eternity, by whom He begat our spirits as well as the spirit of Jesus His First Born" (The Seer, p. 172).

"Jesus Christ is not the Father of the spirits who have taken or yet shall take bodies upon this earth, for He is one of them. He is The Son, as they are sons and daughters of Elohim." (Encyclopedia of Mormonism, vol.4, Appendix 4).

 Mormon leaders teach that Jesus is our elder brother who progressed to become a god.

Milton R. Hunter: "Jesus became a God and reached His great state of understanding through consistent effort and continuous obedience to all the Gospel truths and universal laws" (The Gospel Through the Ages, p.51).

Bruce McConkie states: "Christ the Word, the Firstborn, had of course attained unto the status of Godhood while yet in pre-existence" (What Mormons Think of Christ, p.36).

Bruce McConkie claimed: "Jesus kept the commandments of his Father and thereby worked out his own salvation, and also set an example as to the way and the means whereby all men may be saved" (The Mortal Messiah, Vol.4, p.434).

McConkie continues: "He [Jesus] is the Firstborn of the Father. By obedience and devotion to the truth he attained that pinnacle of intelligence which ranked him as a God, as the Lord Omnipotent, while yet in his pre-existent state" (Mormon Doctrine, p. 129).

Mormon temples not Biblical

Acts 17:24-25 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshiped with men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

Acts 7:48-51 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, 49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? 50 Hath not my hand made all these things? 51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

2 Corinthians 6:16-17 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Ephesians 2:19-22 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto a holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.

      We, as Christians, are the temple of God; we are the church. It is totally unnecessary to worship Him in a special building.
